Artist Statement

Light as a language of stillness

Baek Soon Im's paintings search for the point where image, breath, and inner silence meet. Her works often draw on light, mandala-like structures, mountains, suns, islands, and water. These motifs are not used as simple symbols. They form a visual rhythm through which viewers can slow down and encounter a meditative state of looking.

The paintings hold strong color and quiet surfaces at the same time. A circle of light, a mountain shape, or a field of blue can become a place where attention gathers. Through this process, the image becomes less a scene to explain and more a space to remain in.

For international galleries and residency programs, Baek Soon Im's work can be introduced as Korean meditation painting: a contemporary practice connecting landscape, abstraction, contemplative viewing, and inner light.
